We traded a 1990 Civic LX for our Fit so I can see where you are coming from. The Civic actually got marginally better fuel mileage at higher speeds on the Interstate, was quieter, and rode smoother. If our main driving was at highway speeds, I would miss our Civic more. However, living in the mountains, we absolutely love the handling and more spirited driving of the Fit. We have the Progress RSB and it really livened up the feel, a Mugen shifter that made rowing through the gears more fun, the center console out of a Jazz and a dead pedal to add to the comfort and countless other small changes that make the car really enjoyable.

I do, however, agree that Honda should be ashamed of the 1.5 in this car. It really should perform better. If you simply look at the power/displacement ratio it is pretty pathetic. The 3.0 liter in my 1989 Taurus SHO was equal in hp and better in tq and that was over 20 years ago.

Likewise, hehehe. I couldn't think of a better analogy at that moment. Glad to hear you made peace with your Fit for the time being.

I can attest that having a AT Fit in LA isn't that great, in terms of MPG. Well, I drive from Hollywood to Century City for work, which means surface streets only. I get 22-23 MPG . I agree that I after a year+ of ownership that I have a "meh" feeling towards the Fit. It's a decent enough car, beats the hell out of driving a Versa, but..it doesn't shine immensely in any category. It does what it needs to do above average.
