The guy that is doing mine has a tool that is supposed to make breaking the sections out easier and cleaner.

With 1 1/2 shims did you need longer wheel studs?

The GD's have built in rear camber from the factory. Wouldn't this change into slight toe in as the axle is rotated upward?

keith, i have worn down 1 set of bfgoodrich tires evenly without having a rear camber kit, or toe adjustment. as long as you rotate your tires frequently. i do however have front camber bolts up front made by spc. my car is lowered with skunk2 springs (about 1.6inch drop). i am now on my second set of tires. and they are wearing evenly as well. So NO on the rear camber kit. YES on the front.

Spoken by a guy who never had his rears done, or driven a car that had its rear camber done…

By far the biggest handling improvement on the GD3 is the rear sway bar. The second is the Mugen 5-way shocks and the third is the rear alignment shims.

I’ve also got front camber bolts, front strut tower brace, fender braces, front lower brace, rear lower brace, “C” pillar brace and the Mugen 5-way adjustable shocks on my GD3.

Jodele - I purchased my Fit used and I am unsure if I have an aftermarket swaybar or not - can you tell in these pics?

Also thanks - I will definitely get my rear alignment done. It is good news to know that your tires will be ok if rotated. But if the rear alignment improves handling I am in. Now - what specs do you recommend for alignment??

Why do you have to quote me and reply like a smartass? I was just giving my opinion on if the rear camber kit is needed on the FIT as a daily driver. Sure if your trying to improve handling, I'm all for getting the camber shims. But I will not spend the extra money if I don't have to. For example, some of you have used multiple sets to get it dialed in. Well I have not experienced excessive camber wear on my tires due to not having the shim kit, and I thought the original question is "if the camber kit is needed or not". Not "will it improve my handling". Sure if you get all the alignment angles where they're suppose to be, your car is gonna handle like it suppose to. I have seen completly stock FITs where the rear camber and toe is already out of spec from the factory. I'm sure if Honda knew there would be major tire wear issues they wouldn't have made the FIT a solid rear axle. By the way, I have a 96 Accord with full camber kit front and rear with polyurethane bushings all over and all or more of the suspension parts you just listed on your FIT. So please don't assume that I have never driven a car without having a rear camber kit installed.

Because a stupid a$$ opinion deserves a smart a$$ reply.

Congratulations, you either got a perfect car from Honda, or you don’t have the skills to measure or recognize the uneven ware.

I couldn’t have said it better myself…

Well, which one is it? The suspense is killing me! It sounds like you bought yourself a bunch of parts that you don’t know how to set up.

Guys - both of your responses are very useful.

fit4jenn - indicates you can in fact get away with lowering your fit and not using an alignment kit in the rear as long as you rotate your tires.

Jodele - indicates that a rear alignment kit will help a lot with handling.

However, no one has told me what to dial the rear Toe to.
I am going to guess 0.05' toe in, or 0.10' total toe in. And set rear camber to -1.5'

Thanks Keith, just wanted to give you my two cents on what I've experieced with having my car lowered with only front camber installed while not having the rear camber shims. Usually people have concerns about tire wear after they lowering their car.

WOW! Jodele, its good to know you like to criticize and judge people when you don't know what they're all about or what they know. Real mature. I did not once criticize your knowledge or what you know. So what that being said, if you still want to be arrogant and judge people keep replying to me. It will just show how people like you like to be-little others because it makes them feel better. I guess man, more power to you and all your glory. And if you reply with another smart ass remark I guess I'll have my answer of how mature of a person you are. We're done here.

If you feel that I’m criticizing or judging you, then you have a confidence problem. All I was doing was pointing out deficiencies in what you have written. If I have written something wrong, please let us all know…just like I did to you. We all have equal say here…Obama, Hawking, you, me… but heed Lincoln’s words. “It is better to remain silent and be thought a fool than to open one's mouth and remove all doubt.”

No confidence problem here buddy! Don't think I was wrong in anything I posted. Just stated my personal experience with my FIT and my mods. Jodele I wished we lived closer to each other so we meet up at a FIT meet and be friends! Hopefully then you won't be quick to point out that people don't know anything and that I don't know how to modify a car or have knowledge about alignments and such. Thanks!!!
