have you acheived 45mpg or higher?

I know there are many that get 40mpg and many that dont.
Are you one of the few that have reached 45mpg? I know you are out there.
Originally I had a base MT fit and hoped to get 40 mpg. I got that alright and once acheived 46.4 before my car had 10,000 miles on it.
If you reached 45mpg just shout out on this thread I am sure many would like to hear about it. Keep the fish stories on the other thread please

Highest I've seen was 47 mpg at about 9,000 miles. Now I'm at 77K and I'm getting about 40 max.

Maybe if I had the stick-shift in my car, 45 MPG would be possible. So far 42 MPG is the best I've seen.

I've seen 28.024 km/L (66 MPG) on mine once, but haven't been able to repeat it since. This was when I still had my stock 14s.

The best I did after that was 16 km/L (45.2 MPG) with four passengers and cargo on 16" wheels.

I've gotten 44-45 mpg in my 08 base MT, but only on a straight highway shot at pretty conservative speeds. Generally I bounce around the mid-30s for mixed driving.

I got ~50mpg in my 08 base MT riding on the 10 freeway going east across the country. Haven't been able to replicate that. Generally, I get about low 30s.

People get high mpg only if you believe them and their method of determining that claim. I've only read that VW TDIs get much better mileage than EPA according to car magazines' test results. Years ago I read a Motor Trend article where they pumped up a car's tire pressure to 50 psi and rolled along at 50 mph, and got 10% better mileage. Other then that, it's all just interesting.

We get 45mpg on a combined cycle all the time...

but then our gallon is bigger than yours...

go figure.

With 37K miles on the clock, with winter tyres on and cruising at 65mph, the car will return 48mpg (Imperial, so about 40mpg US). Acceptable really as we're paying £1.39 (GBP) per litre. I'm sure if I could survive driving at 50mph like some old granny then I'd be better off but I have places to be.

I average 45+ mpg at 65mph - 70mph. I have 40k miles, but I use 5w30 oil instead of the "recommended" 5w20. I recently averaged 48 mpg at 55mph

1. Are you talking about a first generation Fit?
2. Are you talking about US gallons? They are different then "other" gallons.
3. Changing your oil from 5w-20 to 5w-30 will not have any measurable affect on gas mileage. The -30 is actually a higher viscosity at temperature so it's not possible even if you could measure it.

Caveat emptor for anyone reading this thread.

10.6 gallon tank right? I always get over 300 miles per tank, and do notice 40+mpg at a constant 55-60. the second I have to speed up or go uphill it drops near 20mpg though

I got 44 mpg measured by filling the tank - not on that gauge on the dash. The trip was a little over 300 miles at mostly 55 and a little bit of 65 speed limits.

How do you know how many gallons were in the tank? You can easily add nearly a gallon of gas beyond the tank due to the long fill tube. How do you know the miles covered and what the odometer reads correspond? The error multiplies with each mile.

My supercharger has removed any possibility of getting 45mpg. I wouldn't also have it any other way
