need some help with (warm) tire pressures

i am currently without both an air compressor and a tire gauge. they're on my christmas list though, and as such, i don't want to buy them now and would rather wait for my g/f to get me a nice portable setup.

so for now, the problem i have is that i'm only able to check pressures at the gas station, and by the time i get there, i'm reading warm pressures.

if the ambient temp is in the 40's to 50's, what would be an optimal warm pressure to use? i don't mind going a bit higher than the door jamb recommendations, but at the same time, i don't want to max out the tires. max recommended psi for the falken ziex 912's i have on is 51 psi.

also, do most of you run even pressure all the way around? or do you prefer a few psi higher in front?

On my standard A/T 08, I run 38 psi in the front tires and 34 psi in the rear tires (if I'm going to be carring a lot of stuff in the back, I boost the rear tire pressure to 38 psi).
Factory recomended is 32 psi.
Maximum tire pressure is just that, the maximum pressure, and you should ever have tha kind of pressure in your tires.

On 205 50 15 Falken 912's I run 36psi cold, so as long as you are at or around 40psi warm you should be fine till you can get a gauge.

On 195/50 R15 Michelin Pilot Sport 3s, there's 37 psi F/35 psi R inside Aibo's shoes. As TP says they'll heat up to 38-40 psi once a few miles have gone by.

On my shores we hardly have anything you could call "winter" so that's basically an all-around pressure setting for me.
