Issues with 2007 Fit Headlights

I've had my 2007 Honda Fit for going on 6 years. Since we have driven all over going to car shows I normally roll with my headlights on so people could see me. About got run over a few times by larger SUV's and decided it was safer to do this. Noticed last summer that the headlights appear to be getting fine scratches and looked like something had been used on them that dulled the clear plastic at the top of the lights only. I used Plastix and Meguiars Headlight Restoration which did not solve the problem. Now it appears the problem is inside the light housing not on the outside. Anyone else have this issue? Wondering if the heat from the lights running for several hours and then sitting in the hot sun could have compromised the housing. I am thinking of doing something I always wanted to do which is swap them out with stock Nighthawk Black ones. Just wanted to see if anyone else had this problem with their 2007.

It's just the plastic housings oxidizing, wearing over time in UV light. It typically gets hazy/yellow near the top first, since that's where the sun hits it the hardest day after day.

There are headlight restoration kits out there for you to buff out the haziness - 3M has a highly reviewed one - but it may be difficult to restore to "like new" condition again.

I found out that if you install headlight armor or clearbra film over the headlights, it helps preserve them better over the years.

You'll have to disassemble the headlights if you want to buff/restore the insides of the lens too.

Try a clay bar on them first. I clay mine every time I wash it and they still look like new.
