07 Fit

Just bought a 2007 Honda Fit with 60k miles on it. When i bought it the car had a few exterior parts on in which did not bother me at all. The dealer informed me that the car was used for racing. After i bought the car i noticed the car would jerk a little when stopped (in drive) at a light. Another thing i noticed about the engine was the car would rev to about 5500 rpms before shifting gears in first and second. The car is automatic. I noticed a huge difference in mpg in 1 hour of driving from the honda fit that my father has. Just concerned about why the car revs so high. i dont need to be racing the car at all. Just need some advice for a new honda freak. Thanks!

First off, welcome aboard!

That's an honest dealer, to admit the car had been raced.

Wonder if the ECU has been flashed / reprogrammed for performance. That would certainly explain a drop in mpg, esp if your engine is racing like that in 1st & 2nd.

Try unhooking your battery for half an hour and plugging it back in. It should reset the ECU. Be sure to have the radio code around or you'll be locked out of your radio.
