Radiator coolant level.

I was wondering what other people have noticed when they open their radiator cap. My coolant does not seem to sit at the neck of the radiator opening but is further down inside the short coolant hose coming from the radiator top tank. Is this normal for the 1.5l fits?

If it is only down far enough that you can still see it then that is normal. If you can't see it then it's time to add some coolant. But anyway you should be checking the level at the coolant overflow tank not opening the radiator cap all the time.

Yep can definitely still see it. Just confused as thought its meant to be at the very top of the radiator neck.

Do you hear a sloshing/swishing noise when you turn the temp knob to heat? If so you have air in the system.

No sloshing at all. I was listening for it as well as I suspected air in the system. Just wanted to check what other fit owners see when they take off the radiator cap.

Finding the level up to 2" (50MM) below the cap (with a cold system) is not a cause for concern with modern coolant recovery systems.

As Loudbang said, if you cannot see the coolant in the rad, THEN add some...and do a system pressure test.
