Honda service troubles

So misfire in C#2 (code P0302) we installed new plugs, swap old coils around and still code P0302

dropped it off at Honda for the second time to have the valves done.

get a call from them about C#2 pack coming out in 3 pieces...
and they cant do the valves until they fix the coil pack...

we installed new coil packs on all 4 about a month ago, since the old ones had corrosion on the springs inside the packs. the old ones came out in 2 pieces and whoever took them out before us fu**ed up and pulled the springs so bad.

this is the second time taking it to Honda, first time we told them to do the valves and they said lets do a diagnostics first...that was $127

they only got the P0420 code for cat...and they wanted $1200 to replace it. we said we would do it ourselves.. since we could get a magnaflow for $328 and $100 to install... so they guy at honda said if the cat doesnt fix the misfire you can get the valves done for the differnce of 150 and what we paid for diagnostics. so around 23 bucks...

all I want is for the valves to be checked for clearance for the misfire.
has anyone had this much trouble at their local Honda service area?

Yea they defiantly are giving you the run around. Every Honda dealer charges diagnosis differently, and the technicians diagnose differently, but this known issue shouldn't be that hard to diagnose to the average Honda technician. ill tell you right now your right and your problem is infact the valves. They do need to be adjusted. Just about every valves I have adjusted on 1st gen fits have tight exhaust valves which causes misfire codes and that Judder type feeling. the problem is also in the coil packs which replacing with oem is highly recommended. The oem coil packs they replace with are updated coil packs so you wont have issues with them in the future. My suggestion to you is to tell the service Advisor to Quit F*cking around with you and do a valve adjust for you. if you would like I could tell you to explain to your service advisor how to diagnose if valves are too tight or too loose also.

Haha thanks, and yeah just picked it up and now they said it also had to do with a spark plug because it was fouled...shit we just installed 4 new ones...and charged an hour and a half to do one coil pack this shit is stupid... we are going to take it to a different Honda dealer and get the valves done there.

wow 1.5hrs for a coil?!? damn that's BS! it literally takes 2mins to replace a coil. u don't have to remove anything you can sneak them from the back. but yea def go somewhere else. Ill tell you straight up right now, dealerships are slow, they are gonna try and rape any way and any where they can. One thing im worried about tho is that you said the coil came out in two pieces and your spark plug(s) were fouled. Is your car over heating at all by chance? only way a coil would come out in pieces is due to heat or engine over heating...hows the level of your coolant?

your over fill bottle is low or it was low in your radiator also? that's not a good sign. you may have a coolant leak somewhere, or the engine is eating the coolant (BHG). Surprised the dealership didn't catch that...
