O2 Sensor question
O2 Sensor question
Hi Guys,
I have a 07 Fit Sport. I have been getting P0420 fault codes and have been diagnosed with bad O2 sensors. I have been looking at costs of sensors about $200 each.
After a bit of research, it seem that I can buy sensors with no connector (open wires.) I can then use the existing connector/wire from the sensors that are on the car and solder them on to the new sensor. I'm pretty comfortable using a soldering iron. These sensors seem to be around $40 each, which is a substantial saving.
I've looked at auto parts warehouse and they've came up with a few parts that look possible. But my problem is some of the sensors have 4 wires and some of them have 3 wires. Of course the website says that they all work for the Honda fit.
4 wire

3 wire

So I have three questions:
1) Has anyone had success with using the sensors without the connectors?
2) Is it the same physical sensor for the primary and secondary sensor?
3) Do the sensors need 4 wires or 3 wires?
Any help or guidance would be appreciated.

I have a brand new Denso brand 02 sensor that I will gladly sell to you at a good price. I originally bought it when my car threw a pending code but I never got the code again and I had my O2 sensor tested and it was working properly...
It's new in the box and was never installed in any car.

If you look on the rockauto.com site, you will see that upstream and downstream sensors are different.
Honda uses "wide-band" O2 sensors. Folks that have tried to save money with Generic sensors often find that the codes come back.
OE sensors were Denso or NGK (NTK = aftermarket NGK)
R.A. has NTK for ~$90 each. You don't have to risk a bad connection with any home made connections...just sayin'.
