any gd with lightened flywheels?

my wife's fit finally had the clutch burn out and while we are in there I was told that resurfaced flywheels present a strong chance of reliability problems. so has anyone had much success with the mfactory or fidanza flywheels? they appear cheaper than new oem.

a search showed lots of speculation but not much in the way of happy results, particularly on the gd platform

i had my flywheel resurfaced about 5 months ago with no issues. go to a good machine shop. your wife is not gonna be happy with a lightened fly wheel lol (my opinion)

I suppose I should take ownership of it hahaha... I sold my car(wrx) for our family to have a minivan. I now drive the fit to work in phily daily. she usually drives the van but does drive the car from time to time just not daily any more. my only concern is reliability, then next affordability, fun to drive would be nice but isn't a big goal(I say this still reeling from the sale of the wrx with the good clutch). if a tech from Honda has noticed a few resurfaced flywheels cracking, then I will be staying away from it.

So is it worth the extra $100 for a new oem flywheel?

If you can get a new one for an extra $100, then just do it. If you are hesitant about the reliability then why risk it. $100 is much less then having the clutch pulled again.

unfortunately, it looks like this is what im going to do based on the availability of the mfactory clutch. they don't have any in stock so it wouldn't arrive until next week, while I need it this weekend.

A little bit of me wants the fit to drive like a 99 si I used to have...
