GD3 is Dead LOL

Well, today was a great day.

The GD3 is dead!

I have no money for another vehicle. I drive for work and do not get an allowance. I got royally screwed today.

My pistons were knocking real hard. Fit is at the shop will know more tomorrow.

Im so pissed.

178,000KM.

Spark plugs were just done a few months ago, a coil pack was switched out, coolant was done back in last april.

Might be the timing chain knocking, highly doubt it.

That's not a lot of miles right? It's like around 120,000 miles right?

Yes, that is not a lot of miles at all.

Many people on the boards have their 2007's way into the 200,000KM.

I don't know what it could be.

A tie rod or ball joint would not make that noise. Wheel bearing maybe but seems to go away when I push the gas. Its coasting that brings the knock. Its so odd.

You just made me Google Map how I would get to work without a car. Possible but would take 2 1/2 hours one way.

Sorry OP, hope it's nothing serious.

I work in the same town I live.

Its a 15 minute drive to and from work. Real question is how do you go from the office to a court 30 minutes away, then another court an hour away lol.

Did I mention I have a 6month old daughter.

Also, yesterday was my review for work. Company isn't making enough money to give out raises. Got yesterday today, and got royally screwed today.

You mentioned that a coil pack was switched out...was it only one pack?

I had the same issue a few years ago when my Fit was at 116,000 miles. I had just changed the spark plugs to Bosch iridium and then the knocking & sputtering started-enough to throw a code and light up the engine warning icon. Took the Fit to nearest dealer who replaced one coil pack. The stuttering issue continued- I then bought 3 more coil packs & Denso plugs, installed them and that fixed the problem. Around 215,000 miles the Fit began to get the "at speed" hick up/stutter, I installed new coil packs (4) and new spark plugs (Denso), no knock or stuttering problems since (only a broken drive shaft).

Complete replacement of spark plugs takes about a half hour with basic tools- plug socket, ratchet, extension & 10mm nut driver.

Hope this helps.

Coil packs are fine. The car is not throwing codes.

I'm thinking it's either the following:

1. Motor mount.
2. Timing chain.
3. Piston is highly unlikely as there is no knocking sound at idle.
4. Which now I really thing it is, a God damn wheel bearing.

I went for a long drive today. Was going about 60km coasting and while hitting the gas and you heard this loud noise. Sounds like it's from the engine but it's more of a wuh wuh sound over and over again. Almost sounds like a flat. Thought I had a flat and I didnt.

Going to have it checked tomorrow. I will post back. Always do.

My money is on a bearing now. Long live my Fit. My car is babied. Rarely beaten. 178,100km factory clutch and no major repairs. Fits don't die this early. And neither is mine. Optimism boys. Optimism.

Yup.. Just be optimis.. Since i ran my jazz for 217,200 km without any major problems and i've some suspension and engine mods on it, and i've quite beaten it since here in indonesia no speed limit, so i tend to go all out on a weekend night/dawn and reach its top speed.. But yeah i've switch 2 of my wheel bearing.. and it still running strong till now in my office parking lot..

Hope it will be the wheel bearing since the sympthom taht you describe is quite same with mine when i chane my wheel bearing..

From dead gd3 to a blown strut. That de-escalated quickly.

Glad it's only a blown strut.
