VTEC replacement cost

Hi,
I'm having my VTEC Solenoid replaced after it was diagnosed as the cause of rough idle when the AC is on and some other issues. They want $570 to replace it, of which the parts are $200. This seems kind of high, even for this expensive area. How many hours should it take to replace one of these?

Love my Fit and look forward to it running smoothly again, but just want to make sure I'm not being ripped off.

I don't think that's the solenoid it sounds more like ignition coils because your idle is rough while AC is on and that's what happened to me when I needed to replace my ignition coils.

Thanks for the response. I asked him about the plugs and coils earlier and he said those didn't appear to be the issue. Perhaps it was a code he checked? This basically happens only when sitting at a light (car in drive) or at the curb (in park) when the AC is running. It might happen occasionally on the highway, but I don't think so. Gas mileage has also been off lately. He said that when the AC is on at low idle the VTEC solenoid is supposed to be doing something and because it isn't the car is missing (not enough air, or gas, or something else?)

I'm inclined to think the diagnosis is correct since I had seen this mentioned at least on other place, but am open to folks saying it isn't the case.

But just in case, does anyone know how much time it would actually take to replace the VTEC solenoid? Is it hard to get to or something or is it just a quick take off and replace?

Thanks.

Sounds more like valve adjustment.
