Mis-Like with AC running
Mis-Like with AC running
Lately Ive noticed what I thought was a mis in the engine. The hotter it was outside the more it happened ( 100 degrees lately ) so I turned off the AC and it stopped. Apparently when the compressor kicks on it feel like a misfire, and since it was so hot out it was doing it quite often, Is this normal for the fit or does the AC need charging or something? Its cold but may not be as cold as it should be, being so hot out cant really tell but it does cool, just takes longer.
I don't know if the compressor is the issue, low Freon or what, just seeking advice and experience on this issue, as I know the motors are small and not as powerful as the V8's so is this normal or no?
Thanks everyone.

Everyone's car (even same model) is a little different, I feeling subtle wave of vibration when a/c compressor kicks in during cycle; also the car tends to vibrate more when a/c is on. I using second fan speed; with this setting and re-circ mode the a/c compressor cycles every 25 to 30 seconds. My a/c is about 80% charged. Most of the vibration is felt on drive'rs door armrest.
In old 10-piston compressors (used 25 years ago on Toyota's) low charge causes oil to condense in piston chambers creating "out of round" engine feel during a/c start up.
Our Fit uses spiral type compressor so in theory this event should not be that pronounced.
When my coil died a miss was significant enough with a/c on to drop the idle RPM and shake entire car in drive

I could speculate that this vibration related to the right side hydrostatic motor mount. The fluid chamber "pancakes" when getting older and there is a rubber layer on the mount right under engine bracket. When mount collapses about 1/16", a bracket begins to rest right on this rubber layer, which hardens with age, so operating A/C somehow causes more vibrations to be transmitted to the frame.
This is just a theory

What you are describing is commonly reported across 1st and 2nd gen Fits. My 2012 does it too, always has, it's just when the A/C compressor cycles on and off. Happens in Defrost modes as well any non-Defrost modes if the A/C button is turned on. I too have wondered about any drop in RPMs but I have watched the tach and it looks steady to me.
