I've read around online and haven't found a single solution for this. Seems like a common problem.

At speed 4, full cooling, with eco mode off, the AC is barely enough to be comfortable and it takes a while to reach comfortable levels. This is in 100-110F heat in northern california. To feel comfy, we ended up having the air directed directly to our upper bodies, with the vents pointed at us.

I've tried using some AC recharge but found that the pressure in the car was correct and didn't need additional charging

I've also heard that tinting the car helps - but this sounds like a solution that isn't fixing the real issue.

Does anyone have a real solution? Can we increase the size of the condenser or the compressor with a retrofit part?

Does anyone know how to actually get the AC working properly in the Honda Fit so it's actually ICE COLD all the time? My 02 Avalon, 04 S2000, 09 135i, and even my 02 Civic NEVER had issues with cooling like this.

 

ICE COLD ac is not exactly the Fit's forte, it's a common complaint and so far I haven't seen or heard of anything that changes that.

 

yah the ac is weak from the getgo but you can get ceramic tint installed to improve.

 

loving my ceramic tints right now. after the initial turbo AC, I can set it lower without competing against the sun's heat.

 

Honestly, the Fit is a small engined, small car, with a small AC system. You get to 100-110 degree temperatures, and good luck.

I've never read a thread with someone changing the parts or retrofitting.

The ends may justify the means, and who cares if tinting isn't fixing the real issue, if tinting works?
Because IMO there isn't too much choice. And bottom line, the "real issue" is your vehicle is getting too hot and uncomfortable for you.
Of course some people don't want tinted windows period. That's up to you.

I find the Fit AC to be adequate for the majority of hot summer days.
Admittedly 100-110 degree days where I live are relatively rare.

 

I grew up driving cars with NO a/c, so be thankful for what you have …. I have a black FIT (gets hot parked outdoors ….) windows tinted with the street-legal 35 here in TN, keep the windows cracked if not gonna rain, drive the first few minutes with windows down and vent control set to fresh, as the outside air is usually cooler than the interior air at this point, and after a few miles, windows up, set control to recirculate and point vents at my upper body. I's adequate for east TN heat, anyway. I've also found that running the fan above 2 seems to "outpace" the cooling....if you run the fan on 2 (or 1) it'll feel cooler, just not blow very hard. But, yeah, it's a tiny motor with a tiny compressor, ya gotta be realistic with yer expectations. It could always be worse

 

I work in the SF Bay Area myself and those heat waves aren't fun. I have 35/20 tint on my Fit which helps. However, if you drive with ECO ON you will get a penalty hit on engine power. It's more pronounced when at idle so turn it off.

This will improve your AC performance but don't expect it to give you ice cubes.
