Question Air conditioning issues

Hello all.

I'm trying to isolate an issue with my AC. Recently, my system has not been cooling properly. The compressor kicks on no problem when I toggle the AC button in the cabin. However, cold air only comes out periodically. I recharged the system to manufacturer specs and added AC dye to re-check for leaks. Nothing was immediately apparent, but I'll be lkeeping an eye on it over the next couple of days.

One other thing that I notice when I toggle the AC button is the only time the AC actually works is when the compressor kicking on is followed by a sort of "gas escaping hissing" noise. It's hard to explain but what I hear pretty much immediately follows the compressor kicking in. Then nice cold air. No hissing noise, no AC.

Could that be the drier on condenser or something? Could I have a bad relay or a bad thermostat? Any suggestions are appreciated as to how I can further diagnose the issue. I can provide manifold pressure levels if needed.

Very much a diy guy here, so go easy on me if my terminology is off. :-)

Can you tell if the hissing noise is coming from behind the glove box?

My Fit has an aftermarket expansion valve and it seems to make a hissing noise after the compressor kicks off...
