LED Tail lights causing radio to dim
LED Tail lights causing radio to dim
hey guys was curious if anyone else has had this issue. i have just replaced all my lights with LED lights. now i have fixed the issue with the hyper flashing turn signals. but i have noticed ( even before the fixing the hyper flashing) when ever i press my break pedal my radio and radio buttons dim to almost black/off but it doesnt seem to affect the sound or aux. maybe this always happens when you press the brake pedal... and i just noticed it after 8 years.....
any info would be very helpfull thanks!

usually electronics dimming or losing power is your alternator going. an 8 yr old car this is more likely to happen. have a shop check if your alternator is still charging the battery well enough.
It could also be a bad ground connection, likely at the battery, or a battery that's nearly dead. If it's the original battery, it is on borrowed time.
The alternator can't put out too much power when the car is at idle, and the brake lights use a fair bit of electricity (even the LEDs do since you added the resistor to keep them flashing at a normal rate—the resistor uses power to make the flasher think there's a good bulb there). It might be expected for the interior lighting to dim slightly, but not to the point of near darkness.

Its the bulbs. they feed power back into the running right circuit when you step on the brakes causing the radio and cluster to dim the same way it dims when you turn your lights on. Have someone step on the brakes for you you will see your marker lights come on.
Thank you guys for your feedback!
I tried switching back to the old bulbs and it fixes the problem.... But curious if there is a certain led bulb that will not have this issue.
Thanks again!

I have tried a couple different bulbs and had the same problem. could probably add a diode into the circuit to fix the problem just haven't had a chance to try. Plus I haven't been overly impressed with the light output off the bulbs, running lights are okay just not enough punch to the brake light.
