Clicking/pulsing at idle

Ive looked through a few of the 10 bagillion engine clicking noise threads and didnt find my exact situation.

My 07 Sport (manual) has 115k miles and for the first time yesterday I noticed a "clicking" as well as some pulsating/fluctuations/hesitation of the motor with dimming of the headlights.

The weather has been abnormally cold and wet (SoCal) and I changed the brake pads/calipers recently otherwise no changes.

Any advice before I go into the mechanic blindfolded?

TYIA!!!

Dimming of the lights is most likely caused by aging or cheap battery or dirty connections on the battery (BTW Honda $100 battery from the dealer is far inferior to Yuasa battery installed on factory) random clicking that disappears as engine warms up is not likely caused by internal components; but it would be wise to check the valve clearances and condition of coil packs/spark plugs.

Thanks! Ive been on the same battery for ~20k miles with no issues. The clicking started last night in a parking lot after about 20 miles on the freeway, so the engine was definitely warm by then.

Im suspicious of the spark plugs regardless as theyve never been changed! Let me know if you think it may be anything else.

Pull the coils and apply silicone dielectric grease on the end boots (pink rubber ends) and under upper ring seals this should temporary seal out moisture and fix the issue for few days or maybe longer. Also, the accessory drive belt (idler roller to be specific) can make some clicking sounds on idle rpms; but not many complaints about that.

You are due for Honda's recommended maintenance. Why not have that done, then see if your issue remains?

You need plugs, filters, and a valve lash check. Probably a new serpentine belt, too.
