operating in the low end of power band

(08 LX MT) I read somewhere on here that the gd3 has a "sweet spot" at 5000 rpm. I never operate there. I always shift to a longer gear early, keeping my revs about 1500-2500 while accelerating, and never higher than 4k on the highway, and usually about 2000 in the city. Is there a downside to operating this way? I have no interest in maximum torque or acceleration; but I don't want to harm my engine, valves, pistons, etc. I bought the car used a few months ago. It has 90k miles on it. Thanks.

No downside to the way you drive, really.

I like to recommend a few treks to near redline a month (full throttle accel). I feel this 'exercises' the engine and the high duty cycle keeps the injectors clean.

But, that's just me.

No Prob, not everyone is a Maniac Driver like me!

George Carlin (the comedian, RIP) always said:

"Drivers that go slower than me are IDIOTS!
Drivers that go faster than me are MANIACS!"
