cost for a paint job?

its midnight here so i figure i'll ask you guys. its a '07 sport but the clear coat is peeling off and on some spots the paint is basically gone and now has that white ring. its on the roof and hood and its best that i cough up the money to paint it before it starts rusting and completely ruins the car. I mean the car is about to hit 100K and still runs perfect so i plan on keeping it for a long time which means new paint job

anyone one have a clue what that would cost?

It depends on the prep ,,, paint jobs are pretty much all labor.

If the car is all straight you looking at a couple days of sanding to get the clear coat off, then a couple coats of paint. as long as you keep the color the same 1200 is about the base, excluding MAACO, which can do a good job on the paint, their prep is good or bad depending on the shop.

1200 aint too bad. if Honda can do it you recommend the dealership shop or stay away from them since they used cheapass paint? I have a MACCO few hours away if all else fails

Again, it's all in the prep. Labor will kill ya.

I think $1200 USD is really a lowball price. I have friends who have paid $6K - $8K for a nice job. Others have paid 5 figures for a CONCOURS job.

Oh yea 1200 is the low end, but the fit is a low end car.. so that's where I went,

10 hours of labor at about 85 bucks an hour will get you a fair prep job, stay the same color and it stays cheaper, heck you can sand the clear coat off ,, and use a single stage paint to respray.. It will look good for a few years then fade out.. Red and blue are the worst about fading in general ,,, self prep save a lot, use Maico to spray the paint, 399, and for another like hundred bucks they will upgrade you to poly-urathane... I have an acquaintance who does the 35000 dollar paint jobs, he hires all his spray booth guys from Maico because they just spray the most cars and nothing teaches painting like painting..

I got a Maaco $300 paint job on a Camry before I sold it. It looks good right after they do it. I think you are paying big bucks for longevity.
