Recover lost power? ~230k miles

I'm looking for ways to get a little more performance out of our '07 Base fit.

Last year or so I replaced the alternator, plugs, coil packs, and the catalytic converter. Valves have been adjusted recently as well. I have no error codes.

The fuel economy has also dropped to about 30 over the years. I am now living in a more aggressive driving environment and finding a need for more horsepower. I've long suspected replacing the wheel bearings would be beneficial, but haven't since it requires pressing them out and the wheel feels stable (although the hubs can get scalding hot). The only other thought would be cleaning the fuel strainer. I have to replace lightbulbs in the shifter anyways....

Any recommendations? Is this a product of an aging engine?

You have to check engine compression first.

Yup. If the piston rings and/or valve seats aren't sealing well enough, efforts to regain lost power will pretty much be fruitless. Is it burning much oil? It's amazing that modern manufacturing tolerances and oils can allow an engine with 230K to function as well as it does. I remember when we bragged if got 100K without a complete rebuild, and even then the top end was probably done at 75K.
