Oil Pressure Sensor Location on GD1

Getting intermittent low oil pressure warning light. Only when engine is hot (+30 minutes usage).

Before installing a new oil pump, it is probably better to replace 1st the sensor.

However where is this sensor located?

Otherwise the engine seems healthy... no weird sounds, no oil consumption, leakage, black fumes etc.

Thanks for any advice.

Wolfgang

The oil pressure switch is directly above the oil filter on the block. Remove it and attach a pressure gauge in its place, then run the engine and check oil pressure, prior to replacing the switch (and throwing a pump at it).

Let the coolant fans cycle twice to verify that the engine is up to temp then...

Normal oil temp - 176* F (80* C)
Oil pressure at idle - 10 PSI (70 kPa) Minimum
At 3k RPM - 50 PSI (340 kPa) Minimum

Good luck

Many thanks for the Data ...problem is solved.

You must know this is Philippines ...lack of tools and especially diagnose instruments.
But this is compensated by a very friendly Surplus Parts dealer.
Gave me a new sensor/switch to test ....same result, no change.

Luckily he had also a new oil pump on stock.
He replaced the oil pump and everything is fine. Engine runs like new. There was a lot of dirt and oil slick in the engine.
Pressure is now as it should be.

About costs:
2.500p for the switch = 48 $. Was refunded, as this was not the problem.
3.000p = 59 $ for the new oil pump
1.000p = 20$ i had to pay for the installation of the new pump.

Well ..this is Philippines. Its more fun in the Philippines.

Did i mention, that the dealer gave me his personal car for free over the weekend, so that i am not without wheels.

I guess i was lucky in many ways.

Greetings
Wolfgang
