Base vs Sport - differences (GD)

Hello all,

I'm sure this has been talked about before, but for some reason I couldn't find anything substantive regarding the two different models. There's a couple things I know about the two.

Sport
Skirts and air damn, fog lights,

Base

Is it different size wheels/tires or aluminum vs steel wheels? Also, there is a CD player that plays mp3 files vs a base model with no CD player?

Base has 14" steelies vs the 15" alloys.

Sport has a aux jack in the console to plug in phone, mp3 player, etc. Base is lacking that plug. Sport also reads text on discs, base does not I don't believe.

Sport also has paddle shifters on the steering wheel and "manual mode" shifting but the computer will shift automatically if you over rev.

Here’s a few more differences.

The Sport has keyless entry. IIRC, the Base does not have an alarm system. The Sport’s 6 speaker radio system is rated 160 Watts, and the 2 extra speakers are tweeters.
The Base rear hatch can be locked and/or unlocked with a key.
I also recall that the Sport shipped with more plastic undercar shields than the Base.
Although both have 109 hp, the Base is lighter.
I would prefer a 5AT Sport over the 5AT Base because of the paddle shifters.
I would prefer a 5MT Base over the 5MT Sport because I would change/mod everything anyway (just my thoughts).

Base model + alloy wells does not make it a high-end 5AT Sports model.

Sure they are not the same. I currently own 2 GD Fit, one being a 2007 Fit Sport 5AT, and the other is a 2007 Fit Base model 5MT. I got the sport 5AT from my dad, car was involved in an accident and he got another car. So I bought a same year base model 5MT, and took all as many parts as I could off the Sport and installed it on the base model, include 95% interior swapped. The blue Fit is a Lunar Mist Blue Metallic, which the sport model never offered in that color in 2007.

Cause I do have a 2007 Sport 5AT, the one in your second photo is missing front bumper with fog lights and the rear roof spoiler.
And of course you cannot replace the normal steering wheel and dash panel available for Base models with the pretty expensive paddle-shifter steering wheel and dash panel available only for Sport 5AT models.
For spring to end of fall season I use 17" Enkei rims with wider tires than the 15" stock ones.
Merry Christmas.

My 5AT have the paddle shifter as well, it’s cool to have on an automatic, but I prefer the 5MT. I can acrossed a base model 5MT on Craigslist, and since I have a spare Fit sport to take apart, so I figure why not dress up the base model into looking like a Sport model. Majority of the Sport interior had been swapped over to the base, excluding the dash. As for the wheels, currently have winter tires on the 15 inch alloy wheels. When summer time comes, then I’ll get something else to replace em.

OK I wanted to total up all the differences stated here. So we got;

Sport
Skirts, wing and air damn, Leather steering wheel/shift knob, different upholstery, alarm system, 2 more speakers and amplifier, radio can play mp3 cd's and has a aux jack in the console to plug in phone, mp3 player, etc. This 6 speaker radio system is rated 160 Watts, and the 2 extra speakers are tweeters. Fog lights, 15" alloy wheels, cruise control, and keyless entry. Auto has has paddle shifters on the steering wheel and "manual mode" shifting but the computer will shift automatically if you over rev. More plastic undercar shields.

Base
14" steelies, rear hatch can be locked and/or unlocked with a key. Almost all the options stated for the Sport or not on the Base (I think).

Feel free to rectify any errors sited. Also this total can be edited for any errors spotted.

How are your side skirts mounted? Did you drill holes or are they just 3m tape/screwed in at the fenderwells?
