2007 Fan speed control issue *NOT BLOWER MOTOR*

Ok so here we go, I pulled my head unit and dash to install an aux cable to the unit. Undid that HVAC tension cables and all was going fine until...

The actual knob that spins the fan speed 1-4 came apart or at least from the back. The wire and clip is fine, but the knob and internal assembly came apart. Inside there are two springs, a copper color backing plate, a silver BB (idk what else to call it) and then the plastic black clip that holds it together and clips into the male harness and wiring.

Where the hell does this BB go? I can get it together without the BB but it doesn't click together in any way to would keep it from coming apart. Any help would be appreciated, even if it's just telling me I broke it.

I could be wrong but the ball could go into the spring loaded cavity (?)

on the opposite side (red arrow) to allow switch to stay in 1,2,3 etc position

Solved.

The unit itself comes out of the HVAC housing and is replaceable. I don't think it would ever have gone back together, and I think there was a second metal BB based off it's design. Either way it was a common $25 part.

I doubt it will happen to many people in terms of failure, mine came apart when pulling the dash.

Since you had this all apart... do the HVAC controls have a backlight? Where are the bulbs? Mine are completely dark which is pretty annoying. I also pulled the radio for the aux install, but didn't remove it from the dash fully so I couldn't get a good look.

The part itself is simply called "blower switch" on rock auto. Seems they've gone up in price.

No problem. Funny enough someone else PM me the same thing a week ago. He mentioned it being the top Google. Glad to help, don't have the Fit anymore but it was a great car.
