JDM vs USDM MAF...any difference??
Is there any difference between the JDM and USDM MAF?
I just got my Last Station Power Chamber Intake and the holes for the maf don't line up. Just wondering if there's a difference. Is it safe to double stick tape the maf onto the intake?

That plaque would make a nice sig quote.
Regarding double sided tape...you need an air tight seal (obviously
), and I'm not sure that would be possible with tape.
I'm not sure exactly what the alignment issue is without seeing it in person, but if the holes are completely off...you could drill new holes and fill the old ones with resin (a tube of bumper repair from advance auto would work perfect...sandable when dry). If the holes are just slightly off, consider a dremel to get alignment then an epoxy adhesive (irreversible
). As far as a sealant I would use silicone caulk rather than double sided tape...this would pretty much be beyond the limits of durability of double-sided tape. AND, you don't want dirty air entering your engine around the edges where the tape comes loose.
This is a tough call. I would be very careful putting something that doesn't fit properly onto a brand new car (or a least one with a perfectly good factory warranty)...

"honda usually never uses maf. "
Actually they do and have on various models for quite a while. If you look at the tube in the first picture you can see the slot and two screw holes where it attaches.
Bottom line, current model Fits have a MAF.

I know nothing about the gr8 but I guarantee the gd3 uses a map sensor, just like all the other hondas I've worked on.
Bumping this thread as i was looking for info but couldn't acquire any. I even posted on the intake section on this forum but nobody responded
Anyway, I acquired the Last Station Power Box intake from Japan despite the OP's issue regarding the MAFS not lining up, but i was betting on 555sexydrive's comment regarding his use of a USDM intake on his JDM vehicle, so everything should be fine, right?? well...
We just installed everything last night and at first, when we unplugged the MAFS and put it on the new intake, my heart sunk because the holes in fact didn't line up!!!!!! I thought o great, i just wasted $300+ on this thing................
I guess it was getting late, because before we packed everything up, we were staring at the disconnected OEM intake, AND we found out the MAFS adapter was installed the wrong way on the new intake, hence, that caused the holes to be off and didn't line up. Once we flip the MAFS around, the holes lined up pefectly!!
We suspect Honda's engineer did this to prevent amateurs (like me) to installed the MAFS the wrong way!! So i hope my experience would help members here with their decision before putting down big $$$ on this intake.
Also, just out of curiousty, i measured the oem intake and the new intake's diameter at the MAFS and they are exactly the same size. The T1R intake (which uses the same mold apparently) has a larger dia. at the MAFS and it is what claims to cause many users to throw a CEL. I haven't threw a CEL light but i'll report back if i do.
