R18 Throttle Body fit on a L15?

Noticed say a 09 Civic R18 TB has the same connections more or less. Same 4 bolt pattern. Coolant lines arent an issue, and I am not sure if its worth it?

Thoughts? Im gonna try to find a cheap R18 TB and see whats what.

EDIT:

Not sure really if its needed. Maxbore here took a stock one from 50 mm to 58 mm. Pair that with some port matching and the 99.00 price they charge (which includes warranty and new butterfly)......and modding a R18 TB to fit may not the best?

Our TB is not a restriction.

Thanks for that, I figured it wasnt but really was just wondering about parts interchange. Could be helpful for the F/I crowd? Thanks!

Nope, because the charge would then be under pressure anyways. The 50mm cross section can support ~300whp worth of flow NA at sea level.

So if volume is not the problem, and FI increases that volumes density .. then no it would not be advantageous and money better spent elsewhere.

To give you perspective, 60mm TBs support more than 800awhp in more than a few turbo applications.

Accounting for drive train loss between an AWD and our FWD, and then scaling down by the percentage change in cross section that would put the 50mm TBs capabilities somewhere north of 580whp in our application.

Considering there are two L-series motors on stock TBs doing more than 400whp.. one at 440whp the other 530whp.. its pretty safe to say this is a waste of time.

you can have stock TB bored out to 55mm at Max Bore but you wont see much of a difference unless you are pushing some serious boost.

I drove with the Max bore TB on both NA and Supercharged.. it felt smoother but thats about it

For centrifugal compressors.. Turbos or Rotrex/Procharger style superchargers, the TB only needs to have the same CSA as the compressor outlet.

I'm running a 71mm turbo with a 60mm TB on my other car..

R18 Throttle Body Adapter

I recently designed a Throttle body adapter that allows the R18 throttle body to mount to any stock FIT, JAZZ or CRZ. Check out my development process below!

That's nice.... I made some sort of spacers also to be able to use larger TB's on GK and GE fits....im currently using a CR-V throttle body which is 61mm without any problems
