Taller final drive?

Hey guys been looking around and I see a lot of talk on what could happen if the final drive was swapped out in the GE8 5mt but has anyone actually done it?

I see the stock final drive is 4.62 correct?

teammfactory makes a final drive in 4.47 has anyone done this swap? I'm not looking for more power I'm looking for lower cruising Rs.

I put the info into Gear Ratio Calculator with all the factory specs for a sport as far as gear goes and played with final drive and it looks like a 4.2-4.3 would be best for a 3k rpm at 70mph.

Has anyone done any of this and if so please let me know how the car handled wind and hills at the lower rpms, and what gear ratio you went with.

I haven't done it yet, but I definitely agree, the car needs a longer final drive. It's like the manual is too short and the auto is too long.

Anyway, i'm torn between the LSD or the Final Drive...

If someone's thinking about making this product, I'm also interested.

LSD = no more peg legging (one wheel peel) useful for applying throttle out of a corner. Not that this is a huge issue.

FD = lower rpms throughout the gears. Useful for boosted applications. Lower cruising RPMs can help MPGs, but cost to recoop investment may be a while.

Sorry. Wasnt sure If the LSD changed the diff gear ratio like an AWD or RWD car can. Still learning about gear ratios on FWD. Thank you the explanation.
