Roof rack and mpg
Purchase of Roof rack for GE8
Unfortunately, the only racks that fit the Fit are not cheap. Yakima and Thule make clip style racks. I got my Yakima rack at etrailer.com
This was a good price on one. The parts are seperate, so make sure that you get the correct "clips", base mounts and bars with caps. It was about $269.00

Really do you know any other brand besides those two? Ive seen alot of yakima and thule brand but they are way expensive.. Just the base rack without fairing and lock keys for yakima will already cost $315 w/o tax.
Try Waterproof Car Top Carriers | Cars With Or Without Rack | USA-Made. Car Top Carriers have 2-yr warranty | Take your Golf Bag, Camping Gear, Luggage They have bags for roof racks and bags to fit directly on car roofs without racks. Be sure to put something stiff like 1/4" plywood in the bottom of the bag as the Fit's center roof section is thin and would dent easily.
Costco Error
Edit - Sorry, bad link, go to costco's webiste and search roof rack. They sell this brand... http://www.sportrack.com/home/

Thule Aero Blades
I installed the Thule "Aero Blade" crossbars on my 2012 Fit Sport (MT), and I like them very much. MUCH quieter than my old Thule square (in cross section) crossbars. Apparently much more aerodynamic than the older design. I've gone from averaging about 38 mpg in mixed driving (mostly freeway driving in the 64 to 68 mph range) to about 36.5 mpg with the roof rack on top. I do lots of kayaking in the warmer months. Will take the rack off in the winter.
This was NOT a cheap roof rack (with the fit kit and towers), but I got 20% off at REI, so it could have been worse.
Beside the slight hit in mpg, the only thing I don't like is that the front sides of the crossbars get covered in bug splat pretty quickly.

Might have a roof rack for you!
Not sure if you are still looking for a (cheap) roof rack, but have almost a full set that will fit yours.
Brand new, never opened. Still in packaging, still has the invoice + plastic wrap on the box (i got a 2nd set as a gift the same time I bought my own set)
Brand New: INNO Car Rack (Honda fit 2012, more)
See there^.
I have the hooks & stays available. All you need is 2 cross bars (inno sells theirs at 50"..i want to say about $60 new.. or grab square bars on craigslist) and you're good to go.
I love my rack. Haven't taken them off my car since I installed them in October.
If interested, let me know your pricing and we can work from there.
I bought a sportrack set for my 2011 sport from wally world $119 I think - bought a sears cargo carrier of gregslist for $50 - put 3 american tourister style carry ons, a lg duffel bag, 2 backpacks, 3 winter coats , small tool box, 2 hot dog forks, 2 mountain pie makers and a 32" artificial tree, -likely was over the recommended weight, drove 2500 miles over Christmas, averaged 26.3 mpg - rack held fine, no problems, would recommend for the money
I have a Yakima cargo basket on my Fit. I originally reported no mpg loss, but see 2-3mpg less on average now. I used to get over 40mpg, now I get just below 40mpg. It's 100% worth it though, I use it at least a couple of times a week. It's way better than trying to fit a canoe or pile of boxes or a server in the back of the car.
I got the rack on Craigslist for $80, and the basket for $100. Under $200 for a full setup. The fit kit is from a Honda Odyssey, but it fits the Fit fine.
Some pics:

Only about 30mpg with the canoe:

Biggest load I've ever taken a picture of (I've had suitcases up there that weighed more, but this is probably the most volume:

If you get a basket, you'll wonder how you lived without it before. I throw so much crap up there, it saves the interior from getting dirty or damaged, and basically doubles the carrying capacity of the Fit.

Northeast of Atlanta, East Cobb area. Used to live in Atlanta, but just work there now.
Savannah is awesome. Me and my wife vacation at Tybee a couple of times a year at least. Lots of fun. I'd move out there in a heartbeat if there was more well-paying computer work that way.

I got mine through Walmart, its a SportRack made by Thule was around $110, the Yakima and Thule's are nicer but the price is around $400 if its for something you use a couple times a year, the SportRack is fine. In my opinion the locks are a joke on all of them, if someone wants your rack, the lock isn't going to stop them. I read on here about a guy who had a very nice roof rack and someone took a pry bar to it, messed up his car pretty bad. I only leave mine on when traveling, I store it in the garage normally, its pretty easy to take on and off. Can't have anything nice these days, the world is in a pretty sorry state when someone takes a pry bar to a honda fit to steal an aftermarket roof rack
I had permanent rack mounts placed on my roof. Thus my rack mounts directly to the frame for much increased stability. Gas mileage does suffer, but safety is more important.
When I make long trips I simply remove my roof rack.

How did you mount it permanently?
