DIY Fog Lights?

DIY Fog Lights?
Howdy Fellow FIT Freaks,
Just finished installing splash guards on my totally stock '13 FIT Base (at 1/2 the cost at the dealer). So I am psyched and ready for more!
My question: Do any of you have experience with installing fog lights? It looks like it would entail switching out the entire front grill/bumper. The dealer price for the lights is $425, should I just spring for it?

I have a 2012 Fit Sport with fog lights, and honestly they really don't do much for visibility other than light up the area to the sides of the car for about 10ft forward. Unless you just really like the look of them I think you'd be much better off spending that money on something else.....maybe a Progress rear sway bar or Clazzio seat covers (those would be my picks anyway).

Honda makes an add-on foglight kit for Fit Base models that fully integrates with the existing bumper and wiring. This is probably what the dealer was offering.

Other than improving the appearance of the bumper, I agree they do little to enhance lighting in fog or otherwise (at least on any car I've had them on).
In Europe fog lights are mandatory. But they put them on the back of the car (one of the tail light lenses) so people don't run into you.

the foglights are plenty useful!
You will need to skip the honda-offered bulb that is dim and extra long life and go for a set of HIDs or a set of quality higher power bulbs and run a battery relay harness

Thanks Steve and Bama3Dr,
I really do like them for the looks. The front of the '13 Fit is pretty plain, I think that the fog lights dress it up a bit, though I agree they are probably not all that functional.
What I'm not getting is where do the go? There is no cut out space or removable panel in the front.

Thank you Steve244 - I did take a look. The '13 instructions were a dead link but the '12 instructions look to be the same, you need to do some cutting of that bumper cover. That solves the mystery!
It does not look too intimidating. I think I gotta agree with Bama3Dr that some nice seat covers may be more of a priority.

I dont know the prices, but I think you'll enhance the look if you get the front bumper of the Sport Model (may be you can get one with the fogs include)
Not necessary to buy a new one, you can get one from the scrap yards.
Just verify!!!

depending on which year Sport bumper you buy, you will need to buy a grill.
my 2013 has a gap between grill and headlights, where a 2013 sport does not.
My buddies 2011 sport also had no gap.
Im told honda played around with the grill designs a bit, so research it a bit

-- Prices are average --
Front Bumper = 170
Paint Job = 200
Fog Light Assembly = 200
Switch Fogs = 40
Wires = 40 (different options, since relay wire for HID to original Honda Wire, this is the less cost)
Good Luck
Take a look on this post https://www.fitfreak.net/forums/2nd-...onversion.html

That is what I am seeing and I think the source of my confusion. I just could not see, first, how the lights would fit into the configuration of the bumper on my '13 Base - now I see that you have to cut holes to make the space...
But still it would not look like the other FITs that I am seeing.
