Non Nav to Nav switch
Non Nav to Nav switch
I just purchased my 2009 Fit Sport automatic. I decided to purchase without the navigation option. The reason for this is because the nav system that is sold with the fit is missing many features I want.
I have decided to go with the Pioneer AVIC-Z110BT.
Now to do this I am going to have to switch out my current stereo as well as the panel that houses the stereo. I plan on purchasing the OEM panel that comes with the nav option. I found the panel here.
From what I can see the only issue with doing this is that you loose the "passenger air bag" notification light.
Does anybody see any issues with my plan? Does anybody know of a more advanced navigation system than this pioneer?
I was also wondering if I could purchase the OEM audio controls and install them into the steering wheel. Would I be able to hook this up to an aftermarket system?

I don't have any problems... you don't either... you won't lose the airbag light!
If you'll notice the panel you're purchasing (the center surround panel for the navi model) has an opening for the airbag light under the opening where the navi unit itself would be installed. You will only have to move it from one location to another (same size light for both models... navi/non-navi). Relocate it to under your new audio system instead of at the current location in the upper left-hand corner of the center console.
In other words, no sacrificing the airbag light!
Great Pioneer system too!
Congrats on the Fit purchase.
