09 fit sport seat mod question
As per the title of the tread, I have a 09 fit sport and thus far the lumbar support of the seat is too high, and juts out too far. Essentially it is poking the center of my back. I am male, 5'6 about 165 with a withering muscular build.
Now the real question. Has anybody take off the seat cover? If you have, is there foam where it juts out for the lumbar support, or is the air bag stored in that area.
Ideally, I would mod the seat to make it more comfortable for me.
Thank You

Obviously, people's bodies have different shapes. I'm about the same size, and feel that the 2009 Fit Sport seat has essentially zero lumbar support. Rather than attempting to remove foam, you might want to look at something to push your hips a little farther forward. A pair of these cost me $10 at Walgreens, and dramatically improved comfort -- for my back, but maybe not yours. They are pretty unobtrusive against the black upholstery of the Fit Sport.

This is actually an easy fix.
There's an active head restraint system, with a large plastic panel that pushes firmly against the back of the seat. It's designed so that if your weight suddenly is forced into the seat, the headrest rushes forward and cradles your skull.
Seems to me that if the headrest weren't so far back, it wouldn't need to rush forward. If you reach back and pull the headrest forward, while pushing your weight against the seatback, you'll feel the mechanism. Get it to the end of it's forward travel, and (whether by design or by accident), it will lock in place. Voila! Seatback stops putting obscene pressure on your lower back, and the headrest is further forward where it should be.
I tested it on the pax seat, and it works as well (I thought, maybe it just catches due to a one-off manufacturing flaw). Give that a try (if you're still around)
