yeah he's ok now but 9 years later and he's still paying off his medical bills!

Wow. In all my years into the car scene, and with all the different cars I have owned, I never once looked at it from the insurance point of view.

I've been looking for an aftermarket seat solution for a while, but now I might have to just suck up the back pains, because as much I want to alleviate this, I do not want to be like your friend, who is still paying for medical bills.

Its good for someone to bring things to light that you can miss at times. Thanks.

no problem I'm not trying to scare anyone but I can be a reality. I would love some different seats in my Fit but trying to find seats with documentation and testing has proven difficult. When I was 20 years old I wouldn't have worried about it. Now I'm 40 have a wife and kids plus a mortgage. I find myself thinking differently now

Thats great man! I payed $450 for mine, but they are worth every penny.

BTW if got some more goodies to share with you guys. Wrapping the seats in leather and adding heaters Seating perfection is near. I've got the passanger seat done, and while not technicaly difficult to do it was one of the most frustrating projects Ive attampted for the fit (I think my hands will be sore for a week) . pics soon...

Question. Your Si Seats came with rails and you used a modified Si base frame, correct?

I'm theory, could you have used the stock Si seats and rails with a customer base frame made from scratch, but based on the Fit's base frame dimensions?

Just curious about thIs. Thanks.

Yeah, the Si seats had stock frame and rails. You could probably get the mounts from Wedge Engineering and weld them to the SI rails after cutting off the original mounts.

Thumbs up

You wrapped the seats with the Katkins, hog clips & all..... yeah your hands will be sore for a while...
Great job on the mod w/leather & heating...

I'm really thinking of trying this out with the Si seats eventually & see if I can install the cooling fans. Otherwise might just go with one comparable Recaro for the drivers side cause that's going to be $$$$.

Let us know when you install the passenger seat and if everything was plug and play(no dash lights). Thanks for the updates so far.

I got the passanger seat installed over the weekend. I'll try to get a few pics up of it installed this evening. It sits about ~0.5-1" higher than stock because I didnt hack off the front brackets but rather extended them.

Everything was plug and play. I moved over the Fits buckles because the guy I had bought these from had changed them.

Here are the brackets and how they are attached.

Thank you!

BTW; the rear brackets I made are 1.5" square steel tubing with holes drilled in either side. The tube was bolted to the floor using the OEM bolt and then the seat bracket was bolted to the tube again using another OEM mounting bolt. The front bracket extender was attached using a 1/2" dia. Grade 8.8 bolt and then atatched to the floor using OEM bolt.

I also changed the washers out on the drivers seat after figuring out the lowest height I could get and replaced them with 2"x2"X0.75" solid steel blocks with 10mm holes drilled into them.

Another interesting thing that i found was that the OEM Fit passanger side seat has its feet attached using bolts instead of rivets. i.e the same way I attached the my front brackets on the drivers side.

Okey, here are a few quick shots of the passanger side installed. The color of the leather is just about a perfect match for the OEM center console.
