Stereo Recommendations - 2012 Fit Sport

I just picked up a 2012 Fit Sport w/o navigation. The car is great, but needless to say the audio is lacking

I'm looking for build recommendations to try to get the best bang for my buck. I've been looking over these boards and got an idea of what I'm looking for. The install logs by FitSPL will be a godsend when it comes time to do the install work.

Budget: ~$1500 without sub. Keeping an eye on this thread about a custom 10" enclosure or trying to get a sub like in this thread. I'm even pondering making my own enclosure using this thread as inspiration. Anyway...

Goals:

1. Double Din head unit with Bluetooth, rear USB, Sirius/XM support. Don't care about navigation as I can do that with my phone (Droid).
2. Two-way components for the front that can preferably use the existing tweeter mounts.
3. Co-axials for the back doors.
4. 5 channel amplifier if possible to keep the install simpler. I'm going to try to mount the amp in the spare tire well for stealth. Something that can do about 250-300 RMS for the eventual sub. If it's best to get a 4 channel amp + mono amp for the eventual sub then I'll take that route.

Thanks in advance!

I bought a Kenwood Excelon DNX9980HD for about $1200, but the price dropped right afterwards. You can now get it for about $900 or so. The reason the price dropped was because the newer model, the DNX9990HD was announced and is out now.

When I was shopping, I also looked into the top of the line Alpine and Pioneer units. Those should give you most of what you want. I think they got new replacement models too. I chose the Kenwood because it has Garmin navigation built into it.

I personally would rather have navi in the in-dash unit, than need to use the phone to do it... especially since the phone is usually much smaller when it comes to screens.

It's not top of the line, but this little bugger has lots of features for the price: Pioneer FH-P8000BT. I'm very happy w/ it.

Thanks for the replies on the head unit. Can anyone recommend a head unit, front two-way components, rear co-axials and a 5 channel amp for a $1,500 budget?

See this post I just made in another topic, it pretty much covers what you are asking.

Thanks for the list. Leaves me about $300-700 under budget depending on which head unit I get that I can throw towards the eventual sub.

Well use that info with a grain of salt there are lots of options via ebay etc, so do some looking once you decide what you like or want, and if you have any questions you can always ask me either in a post or a PM.
