Avic X930BT Install Question

Hello all - new to the forum & nice to know there's a good source of info available for the fine Fit...

I picked up a 2012 MT Sport about a month ago and after searching the forum here I've grabbed most of the needed parts from Ebay and Honda for a DIY install of an Avic X930BT.

I got pretty much everything figured out except whether I'll need a trim ring for any gaps and a mounting kit with a metal sleeve?

It's been 30 years since my last car install - but I seem to recall the only way to use a trim ring was if it was attached to the metal sleeve the radio slides into. Still true? Or is it possible to attach the X930BT directly to the Honda brackets without a sleeve and add a trim ring somehow?

I know some people are using the Honda Pilot trim but have no idea if it fits this unit or how it would attach.

Thanks for any advice!

You're using the Honda metal bracket to mount it, correct? If you are, there will be a gap. use the Pilot kit like you said, and secure it with double sided tape. I've had mine installed for about 4 months now and I haven't had a single issue.

Yep - using the Honda bracket. Thanks for the reply. Pilot trim is on the way so I think I'm set.

Also removable haha. It just pulls out the same way the OEM radio does.

Hey FittedOnEm -

Did you hook up the pink Car Speed Signal Input wire on the X930BT when you did your install?

If not - does the nav work well without it? If so where did you connect it?

Thanks a million. I'm getting ready for the install this weekend!

I think I did, the only one I didn't connect was the reverse signal wire since I haven't bought a rear view camera yet. If I remember correctly there's a signal wire coming from the back of the radio harness.

Thanks to the post by Fit2012 on his Pioneer 2xDin install it looks like the VSS is located at pin #15 on the Factory Harness even for the stock radio. Looks like it's used to trigger the auto volume increase on the radio...

Vehicle radio harness info:
Vehicle speed sensor (VSS): pin 15 (blue wire)
Factory steering wheel control: pin 16 (pink)
Factory steering wheel ground: pin 5 (white)

Thanks again for the replies to my questions.

FittedOnEm replied earlier in the thread. It's a Metra kit. I picked one up on Amazon for about $10.

Steering Wheel Controls

Hey excellent work man.

I just got a 2012 FIT Sport MT myself. I'm looking at the X930BT for my head unit. Question, does it work with the steering wheel controls as well? Do I need to do anything special to make that happen or is it just plug and play?

Thanks!

You'll need to pick up a PAC SWI-PS Steering Wheel Control Interface to get the Fit steering wheel controls to work with the X930BT.
