New look for an oem wheel.

Just wanted to whore out my steering wheel...

I previously had the red inserts for thb, replaced it w emblem from grfxp. Also wrapped the trim piece and re-stitched the thread w red! (best part IMO)

I like the emblem and have been contemplating painting my steering wheel trim gloss black. I'll have it re-wrapped soon as well. Great minds think alike.

Great job on the stitching and the faux-CF trim looks much better than I thought it would. I might actually pick one up after seeing it on yours.

Xacto knife, 2 upholstery needles, some red thread, and a lot of patience and getting over the fact that you're cutting up you're steering wheel.

I stuck mine right over. It might be better to remove the old one though.

Yeah I was thinking about removing it. Is it glued? Can it just be pulled right off?

Mind you mine is a 2012. But when I removed mine it was held on with white tabs that ran through the cover. I am assuming on the back end there were nubs to hold it in. I had to use a sharp knife to cut about 8 of these suckers. Be carefull not to nick your cover. I think they do this so that if the bag deploys it will not come off the cover.

Some people say a stick on is akin to a Ninja death star if it comes lose during air bag deployment right through your chest. I think they are exagerating a bit as the cover doesnt blow towards you but mostly up leaving the bad to deploy towards you.

It does look sharp with the old one removed and installing the new on after. Sinks in.

^^awesome info! Thank you! I've been guessing. I know the civics went all the way through the cover.

I don't know about the "death star" analogy, but changing any of the car's original design and construction could very well have serious side effects. In the wreck of my GD3, the air bag literally cracked my sternum, and the seat belt broke the three lower ribs on my right side. Any stick-on emblems that are not permanently held in place might very well cause a cut or stab wound in a bad enough frontal impact. But, even with all of that, the air bag and seat belts are much better than impalement on a steering column or flying through the windshield.

Hey,
How/where did you get the trim piece for the steering wheel?
I want to get an orange piece for mine, and eventually want to get orange piece for the radio casing, the top glove box and possibly the door handles.
Thanks

Thanks for the super quick answer! Yes, I wrapped all of my interior trim myself. Just buy a square yard and go at it. It'll probably run you $28 for the vinyl.
