Winter floor mats that cover the dead pedal

Recently purchased a 2012 Fit Sport. Opted for the OEM mats initially because it was incredibly snowy when I purchased the vehicle. Since then I've noticed that their coverage isn't all that great - snow from my boots resting on the dead pedal has a tendency to drip down under the front of the mat and then re-freeze under it. It's made it difficult to maintain the carpet / mat area from excess moisture.

Numerous posts on FitFreak seem to indicate either Weathertec or Husky are the popular choices for the Fit. From their websites, neither of them seem to indicate that they'll cover the dead pedal. I'm just trying to find the best solution to prevent liquid from getting under the mat - I'm not dead-set on covering the dead pedal, but if either of them have superior protection from excess liquid on the front lip, that would be awesome.

Additionally, some people have mentioned putting newspaper under the mat as well. Are there any solutions similar to a mattress cover - something that goes underneath the mat to deal with any additional liquid that may seep under the mat?

Ultimately I'd like to find the most robust solution to protect the carpets of the vehicle. I'd love to know what you hardcore winter-driving FitFreaks use for your own vehicles! Thanks very much.

I use these. They definitely cover the dead pedal.

The Weathertech mats only cover half of the dead pedal.

The Husky Liners cover the entire dead pedal. I picked my set up (F/R) for $135CDN!

How do you like the Husky liners so far? Any chance you could post a pic of the driver's side liner? Thanks!

Aries > Husky liners. Aries just look so much nicer than both Husky/WeatherTech liners.

Is there a functional difference? I don't mind something that looks less-than-great. My biggest concern is how effective it is at controlling TONS of liquid (melted snow). I've got phenomenal amounts of snow to deal with in the winter.

I've found that the key to keeping the snow melt under control is the sit backwards into the the car, like a grandma, lift your feet up, and bang them together before swinging them in. If a puddle forms on my Weathertechs, I mop it up with some old towels I keep in the garage for that purpose. (I don't leave the towels on the floor of the car when I'm driving.)

I do kick off my boots before I get in, but they've got a pretty deep tread so more snow/slush has been getting in than I like. And we've had a sloppier-than-normal February here in Montreal. But I'll try the grandma moves! Anything that helps!

Just a word to the wise - avoid autodistributordirect.com like the plague. Joe Rau doesn't respond to emails, phone calls, and has completely failed to ship a set of mats in 30 days. Maybe he was running a legit business at some point, but it sure seems like he's insolvent and is trying to collect the last bits of cash he can before closing up shop.

Far and away the worst customer service I've ever had. Be warned!

go with the weathertechs, i bought them this year after using the OEM mats for years, they do the job perfectly, just make sure you get the version that utilizes the OEM anchors

I bought a set of these mats from Joe at Auto Distributors Direct and received them about two weeks later. Imagine my surprise when a second set of mats showed up at my door. I've now e-mailed and called Joe to find out what he wants to do(pay for return shipping, etc.) but haven't heard back from him. If I don't hear back, I'm going to put them up for sale.
