Will this aftermarket fog lights work for my 2009 Sport?

Hi All,

New to the forums here. Looks like I've joined the club of cracked fog lights on my 2009 Sport. I bought this replacement part on eBay but turns out it's not exactly the same size. The shape of the lens is similar, but you can see how the replacement part ins't as deep.

Anyone here know if it'll still work? Is that just how the aftermarket light assemblies are? Thanks!

eBay replacement is very similar to original, just not as deep.

Why not see if it will fit? It does not appear that the screw holes lineup though.

I am having the same problem looking for fog lights replacements for my 2009 FIT Sport. The ebay seller (as well as other sellers) said it was a compatible replacement but when I got it, it was a different looking housing with the leveling screw in a different place, the mounting hardware doesn't match up and it's not deep enough. The official car manual shows the same fog lights as the existing ones in the bumper so I know they are stock. So what's a person to do?

The fog light on the right is the one the ebay seller sent me

The left fog light is the existing one from the car

This is the 2009 FIT Sport manual image of the original fog light

This is the back of the original fog light from the car

did u search for "honda fit" in ebay, or did u use the actual part numbers of the originals in your search? if you can do a screenshot of the listing it would be helpful so we know what not to buy as an alternative.

the one u got definitely does not look like it will work. which is the same as the one i have on my watch list on ebay, which is for a TSX. the one the original poster got looks like it would probably work. but clearly they are only concerned with their own needs since they cant be troubled with a follow up.

This is the pic they post on ebay & they say it will fit. The next pic is my original along side their light, you can see the difference. To this day they still haven't corrected their compatibility chart.

so i did some investigating...it looks like the ones for the '01-03 civics might work. found out the reason they are cheaper is because they are plastic lenses. at first i said crap no...but maybe they will be better than OE glass and not break as easily? downside is they will haze eventually like the headlights do and need ocassional buffing with Plastx or something similar. im wondering how they will hold up. i have vinyl wrapped glass fogs before, but never plastic ones. i picture them resisting some typical weathering haze...but looking fuzzy with a wrap.

expensive glass lenses that will eventually crack.....or inexpensive plastic lenses that will haze. and maybe not fit in the first place.

i guess i will hold off a bit longer on my decision.

so far the ones that have a squared off lip thing dont look like theyll match up. and they dont have 2 holes in the back for the bracket. the other style...maybe will work. if someone bothers to bolt these up please post your findings. otherwise eventually i will order some and try them out. probably not soon though.

Hi all, apologies @eulogy for the delay, work has been nuts. @Black3sr I was thinking of just installing it but wanted to check the community first because it'll involve drilling out some stripped screws on my Fit. Was just curious if I should even bother trying, or if I should just return the part.

It sounds like there's confusion out there on this so I'll give it a shot and let you all know. If it helps, here are pictures of the ebay posting that I got it from. Thanks!

Dealer Installed Fog Light

Since my 2009 Sport needs new lenses, I did some checking for us all.

CarParts.com shows this part number as a DEALER INSTALLED item on many Accords, Civics, Fits, etc. I checked HondaPartsNow.com and another web site. They both validate your OEM part number, but they also say it doesn't fit my 2009 Fit Sport. I don't know why a dealer installed item shouldn't fit, but maybe it requires a front bumper cover that's molded differently on the inside. I didn't check further as to which factory/country this part might apply to.

I rarely (never) use my fog lights. I might just fab a couple of lenses from high temp Polycarbonate which is good to around 300 degrees F.

I just have change my foglights on our Jazz Sport 2009. I bought them on Aliexpress and they was fitting very well, and the best off all, the price was much less, as the original ones. But the numbers stamped in lamps and montings was as the originals.

the jazz definitely has a different mounting bracket from th U.S. model...though the actaul light housing is probably the same.

I used this exact pair of replacement headlights and made it work with the original housing just by modifying the OEM fog lights housing a bit. Just required a bit of drilling to make the left and right screw notches to fit, took about 15 min to accomplish. I didn’t use the adjusting screw or spring because they didn’t seem to need it, They sit perfectly in the housing, Not too low and not too high. Th e only difference between them and the OEM fog lights is that they sit farther back in the housing than the OEMs, which isn’t noticeable when you the fog lights are in place back in the car. Overall I’m very happy with the headlights, I will post pictures today or tomorrow. This is on my 2009 sport btw.
