"New" Purchase - Honda Fit 2013
Hey Fam,
I just purchased a 2013 Honda Fit with 80,000km.
I was wondering what your experience with the extended Honda Plus warranty was.
They're offering 4 years/80 000km wtv comes first for around 2k.
Were your extended warranties worth it on your Fit?
Thanks Fam,
J

Besides the recommended valve adjustment at 160km and doing the spark plugs around the same time there isn't a ton of things that need attention on this generation of Fit. There's been a TSB for improperly torqued spark plugs but otherwise they're pretty stout. If it were me knowing what I know from having my 09 for 10 years I wouldn't bother, but it is your decision ultimately.
As noted by @Red 05 the Fit is a well built car. You can read the forums to see typical problem areas and make your own determination. I don't see many problem areas to warranty. With a new car you never know but there is an excellent track record documented here.
From a finance perspective, the car isn't worth much more than that warranty costs so I don't think it is a very good bet.
Downside of these econoboxes is that periodic maintenance is a bit expensive relative to cheap cost of car if you can't DIY a lot of stuff. For example, if you do the plugs and valves at a dealer the bill will shock you. Of if do the oil, coolant, transmission, brake fluids (all of which should have been done recently). Or need to replace and balance tyres and align car.
Finally, unless spark plugs were recenty changed, you will want them replaced soon and torqued to updated Honda specs. Read on the forum that several people had loose plugs or head damage relating to this. Taking a chance on factory plugs is NOT a bet you should not make. Also, several people here needed to adjust valves well before 100k miles as the exhasust side seems to tighten up.

Before making your decision to spend that much money, find out EXACTLY what that extended warranty covers. You'll probably be amazed at what is not covered by the policy. My son bought a new 2006 Civic and purchased the extended warranty and never had a repair that was covered by it.
That 2K will go a long way towards repairing most any mechanical/ electrical problem that may happen to your car, if a policy covered repair happens at all. If that repair turns out not to be covered by the policy, you're still out the 2K PLUS the cost of the uncovered repair. Also, if by chance your car is ever stolen or destroyed by accident, you will not receive any benefits at all. Save your money.

Hi Welcome to the forum and the Honda Fit family!
I highly recommend 56ChevyDan's advice, my personal experiences from extended warranties were the same as his son, a lot of run around and nothing being fixed.

I see, then from all other comments, the most expensive bills would revolve around Transmission and Spark plugs...just scared about tech. Even though we don't have much tech in these cars, bluetooth/radio problems could be a pain in $$ to repair.
