Wait for maintenance minder?
Wait for maintenance minder?
Hi Everyone,
I am a car novice, bought my 2013 fit as a certified pre-owned with 16K miles in 2016. I was new to the country, learnt driving and bought this car. I live in the city and just drove 2000 miles in the first 2 years. I got a new job earlier this year and now drive 1000 miles/month. The car is now at 26K and I havent done any maintenance in 3 years except for one oil change . Should I wait for the maintenance minder or take it to the dealer for a full inspection and service? I was expecting some indication after 7.5k miles but with 10k miles, I feel I am dragging this.
Thanks in advance

1 oil change since buying the vehicle 3 years ago?
Yes, I would have it serviced.
You should be able to cycle through on your gauge and see a Oil Life Remaining percentage?
That should be at a 100% when the oil is changed and the maintenance minder reset, then lower as the vehicle is used.
I'd be curious as to what your's is saying.
Caveat: That's how my 2016 works, but I also think it was similar with the Gen 2...my 2010 Honda Fit.
Others can correct me if I'm wrong.

Thanks @fitchet . I did the oil change when the MM showed an indicator at 15% . The MM was reset after the change. This was in 2018 after 2 years and just 2000 miles. There was an incident in 2017 when some pan at the bottom of the car was damaged and leaking oil. The dealer fixed it under warranty and I am guessing they would have replenished the oil.
If your car came with an owner's manual, there's a lot of useful information about intervals of servicing your car in it. If you didn't get a manual with the car, look around on the internet or Ebay and find one and buy it. All the fluids in your car ie trans fluid, brake fluid, radiator coolant as well as the engine oil and filter all have intervals of need for replacement. Other maintenance items like brake pad wear, tire pressure and tire wear should be monitored from time to time also.
You did say your car was low mileage and a Honda certified used car at the time you bought it, so that should be a good start with your maintenance being up to date at the time of purchase.

+1. I believe the owner's manual actually mentions something about changing it every year regardless of mileage.
