Need Reseting Radio Code After Battery Died

My 2012 Honda Fit with the original battery wouldn’t start this morning. I was planning on replacing the battery but was hoping I could get 1 more year out of it. Anyway, I know that the radio will require a security code to reset it. I know there was this information in the glovebox when I bought the car new. But of course now I can’t find it. Am I going to be forced to go to a dealer and pay them a fortune to do it or is there another way to get around that? I have not removed the old battery yet. Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated.

If your battery is dead, the code is probably already gone!

No,the battery is not completely dead. It will try to turn over the engine, but not enough to start it. Any way to bring up the code on the radio?

To All. Went ahead and replaced the battery. Turned the radio on and it said code. So I went through all my paperwork again in the car looking for the code information. Didn’t find it. However, I did find a small piece of paper that someone (obviously me) had written two sets of numbers. One consisted of 8 numbers and the other said code with 5 numbers after it. So I punched in the 5 numbers and it worked. How lucky is that? Thanks all for your suggestions.

Put that code on a sticker and affix it to the inside of the glovebox so you will not have to hunt for it again.

The radio code is located in the original Service manual
