preventative maintenance

Any suggestions on preventative maintenance for 2014 Honda Fit with 60k km or 37k miles? Just purchased in mint shape and I plan on driving it for 40k km, 25k miles, a year untill it dies.

Planning to do

1) transmission drain and fill at lesast once a year, and filter.

2) regular oil changes.

3) PCV valve check / replace as needed

4) rust check spray every year.

5) annual coolant change

6) brake fluid flush when brakes are changed, currently all new brakes.

7) torque plugs to 20 lbs. or leave them alone???

Any suggestions ?

Is this a manual or auto? This changes a few answers

1.) Manuals call for changes every 30k on transmission fluid There is no serviceable filter in the manual. Auto's I dont know, I reckon similar. There is a serviceable filter.

2.) Self explanatory

3.) I'm 10 years on mine and it's still fine, no problem. I have a new one to put in, havent gotten to it yet. I have 88k miles for reference.

4.) I don't live up north, dont have a good opinion here

5.) Completely unnecessary. The OEM stuff is good for 100k miles. Replace with OEM

6.) Every few years, its cheap insurance. Any more often is wasteful

7.) Leave them alone. Manual calls for service at 100K miles

Thanks for the feed back.

The high mileage coolants always always made me nervous, might be overkill but I’ll sleep better.

Here in Newfoundland we get wet snow rain ice all winter with a lot of salt on the roads so rust is the biggest issue a car has.

Auto transmission haven’t checked the owners manual yet but plan to meet or beat the drain intervals. The auto has a filter under the battery I believe.

very wet climate here and brakes take a beating due to all the hills. Fluid gets pretty black and contaminated in a hurry, brake fluid being hydroscopic.

Thanks again for any and all feedback

I'd do trans and brake fluid every two years, coolant every three, check PCV, 100% re-torque your spark plugs. Rust check and oil changes never a bad idea.

My car ejected a spark plug and I'm supremely lucky that it didn't strip the threads in the cylinder head.

100% check your spark plug torque.

Manual suggests brake and tranny changes every three years. Rad at 100M.

I am low mileage driver so change oil and filter once a year.

I had mine undercoated when I bought it. Just had it resprayed this summer.
