Agreed low speeds are best for the enviornment. But fact of the matter cars designed for slow wide US roads are a tough sell in Europe due to the high speeds and winding mountain passes.

Where have you seen that, slow wide roads? Hell nearly all of the state of Texas is 80 Mph speed limit, most other states at 75-70. You got me on mountain passes, most of the country isn't exactly covered in it but much of the west coast would disagree with me.

Ford and Cadillac are making strides with the CTS V and Focus/Fiesta/Mondeo. Ford especially, they used to sell two different cars under the same name back in the day, the Focus we got in America was nothing like the euro Focus. Only just recently did Ford unify the car.
