I'm looking into headlight assembly replacements.
Are there any cool new LED style headlight assembly units for a 2nd gen fit base?
I also see some fits with a black back on the headlight assembly. I can't find it for the life of me. Any ideas where to check? Ebay.. rockauto.. no such luck.
I'm also looking at a new black grill as mine is faded. Just giving it some love as I plan on keeping it .. as the movie Sandlot goes .. foorrreeeveeerrr. Hehe. I just love the damn car!
Which Gen II do you have? I'm assuming that it's first version of the Gen II like my '11 Sport AT that has silver back headlights. The later ones like '12-'13 Fits came with black backs. These headlight units are not interchangeable due to slight differences in the hood / grill / fender bumper interfaces.
Some owners have taken their silver back lights apart by heating them up in a kitchen oven. The paint the interior parts black and then reassembling. Their process is described somewhere on this forum.

The headlights with the black housing came on the base Fits (the LX trim). All other Fits have the silver background.
Thanks guys. I have a 2010 base fit and headlights are currently silver backed. I'll just get new silver ones... I'm not going to risk melting plastic in the oven and having my wife murder me lol 😂

Not entirely true. I've only been looking at Gen II FIT Sport models in Pennsylvania and the later models (like '12 and '13) came with black back headlights and aftermarket fog light aren't compatible between my '11 versus a '12 / '13.
Mine is the '11 with yellow fogs, Turquoise is a '12 or '13 (she's left the job), and buddy's is a '10 but all Sports. You can see the black back head lights on the newest Sport. Never heard of the LX etc model designation except Canadian vehicles. Just not familiar how LX compares to a Sport.
I have a 2010 Fit Base and it has black headlights. I bought a pair of aftermarket black headlights off ebay for about $170 and they are black. I am in the process of retrofitting some FX-R hid projectors into them. These headlights are huge, but was able to remove the lens with a heat gun and reverse pliers, no oven. I would have been done already but was waiting for the weather to warm up a bit so I can paint the reflector bowl black. Supposed to be near 60° here tomorrow so that's the target cause temps around here probably won't see 60° again until next spring.
