replace base steering wheel with sport with audio controls?

I have a 2012 Honda Fit base automatic. The current steering wheel is falling apart. I bought a replacement used steering wheel from a Sport with the audio controls. Will the audio controls work on my base?

nope.

you have add the missing wires that run along the steering column to the radio,

I was reading about how the clock spring is different on the Sport.. Would I need to change that out too? Is this a project I can realistically do?

I don't really recall about the clockspring. I thought it was similar enough that, so long as you have the right control on the steering wheel side and added the wires to the column side, it would work.

I actually bought the controls to swap out on my steering wheel too, but never got around to doing it. Keep forgetting to buy the wires to run down the column.

I do have the Sport Trim, but it's specifically the Navigation trim that has steering controls for the unit.

Google to the rescue... sort of. I knew there was a DIY on it, but couldn't remember where.

Too bad most of the images are dead.

hmmm I was able to successfully install a Sport wheel on my base fit- but he lost me a little bit on the connecting wires from the clock spring to the radio....
