Ignition Coils

My 2010 Fit has 140k currently. Idle started to act up recently and then I got the code for misfire in cylinder 1. Pretty sure my coil is bad, seems to be the popular reason for such problems. I am going to replace all my coil packs. I am picking between two brands.

Suggest first moving the cylinder number 1 coil pack to another cylinder and then see if the misfire code then moves to that cylinder. Also with that mileage it’s due for spark plug replacement. Loose spark plugs also plague these cars, look at the simple things first before throwing money at parts.
Seems people needlessly replace coils when that’s not always the problem.

I already planned on doing some troubleshooting before I buy new coil packs. I replaced the spark plugs at 100,000 mi.

Codes came back today

Haven't had the chance to do any troubleshooting yet but there's an obvious ignition problem...

Loose spark plug? I suppose occurring on more than one at one time isn't impossible, just rather unlikely.

Bad fuel pump? This, on the other hand... I would think would affect all four cylinders. But then again... I'm just guessing.

Maybe dirty valves?

Coils

Check those spark plug boots on the coils first. They corrode over time. Empty the corrosion out of the boot and coat the resister and spring with dielectric grease. Ypu can also just replace the coils and boots with new parts if that makes you feel better. The original coils are better than cheap replacement coils. Best of luck Clay

Good call. Corrosion grows like wildfire and herpes here in Florida. I had a whole tube of dielectric grease and I can't seem to find it 😭

If you haven't done a valve adjustment, it's about 50k miles overdue based on the Maintenance Minder system. That will fix your misfires.

I would suggest doing a proper diagnosis on this prior to replacing any parts, I recent was dealing with a misfire code that I believed to be a bad coil as it was a cheap coil, the misfire turned out to be a faulty fuel injector that fried the transistor in the ecu. Injectors on the fit should measure 10ohms give or take .1 m. Apparently this is very common over seas, I believe I’ve come up with a way to repair the ecu but I won’t know until probably the end of the week.

I have never done a valid adjustment on any of my Hondas. I think this will be the first time I need one lol. was thinking about calling the dealership for an appointment...
