What's the difference between 5spd auto and auto s5?

What's the difference between 5spd auto and auto s5?

On https://www.fueleconomy.gov/feg/bymo...onda_Fit.shtml it shows that there are two automatic transmissions for the Fit, but on Wikipedia, it shows that there's only one for NA. Why is there two on the website then? Thanks.

The shift program is different for the base model vs the sport. Base model gets slightly better mileage, but the transmissions are otherwise identical.

That's interesting, I would think that the automatic sport just has a sport mode that can be switched on and off. Thank you for the info.

The only reason the base gets better mileage is down to narrower tires and potentially less drag. The transmission is not the cause for the mpg loss.

I need to go find the proof but years ago I remember seeing there was two different sets of transmission parts for the auto in the US. Maybe it was on the service manual, I'd have to go looking.

One is probably the flappy-paddle "sport" variant .. either way, there's nothing sporty about an 2 peddle car variant...
