Looking to change the speakers in my 2013 model. The original speakers are out of this world shambles.. No clear sound and with volume only half up it is a misery for your ears. Any advice what to go for? I dont want the most expensive thing on the market just looking for some who can provide decent sound. Planning to change all of the speakers front and Doors.
I picked up some Rockford Fosgate R165X3 Prime Series 6-1/2" 3-way car speakers from Crutchfield for $38 a pair. Replaced all 4. The reason I get Crutchfield for cars is all the adaptors for wires and mounting come with it for free. Usually not a Rockford fan but they are fine. I also got a box of Kilmat (like Dynamat) to wrap them in - plus I added some to the doors and truck so it is a quiet car now.
I disconnected the little tweeters since these are 3 way speakers. I left the stock deck since the Sport model has 160 watt deck in it. And it won't get ripped off. I got a headphone jack cable (and headphone to USB-C for my new phone). You can also buy little headphone to bluetooth for it. I used to have a big car stereos when I was younger so I know a good system and I would rate this as totally fine. I crank the base and treble then one notch fade to back. Adding a eq app for the phone also helps a lot. Gets as loud as I want and sounds pretty darn good for $80. Was pretty easy to install esp with the Crutchfield kit. Only issue was those little black covers on the back window broke right away. I got a new pair for $25.
Been running it for 2 years no issue. Just tried my cd player for the first time and it just says bad disk. Oh well i use pandora anyway so I can also hear the directions from Google. In my area a new head unit would be ripped in a week so this works great for me.
Stock head unit isn't amazing, but it works. What most people don't realize, is sometimes replacing the head-unit WON'T give you more power, unless you run new wiring. If you are using the stock wiring harness, you are limited by the power the stock wires can physically supply. Which if you have a Sport, is right at the limit anyways. So for my Fit, I swapped in a pair of $500 Focal components and called it a day. I kept the OG speakers, so if I ever get a new car, can put the stocks back in, and take the Focals with me.
That being said, a new head-unit can give you more features and more control.
Now for speaker choice.
Generally ANY after market set of speakers is better than the factory units in any car. Yes, I mean ANY car, unless you have a high-end car with the $5000 audio factory upgrade option. As long as it's from an actual electronics store not walmart. I own 3 sets of the cheapest PowerBass co-axials. 2 for my wifey's car, and 1 set I use for my TV. 10/10 upgrade they are fantastic. They sell for like $75 a pair. (Of course my cost was much cheaper as an employee). Just make sure the new driver isn't too deep, the Fit has a slightly more shallow hole
For reference here is a side by side of the stock Fit speakers, and my Focals. Yes the stock speakers really are that cheap, maybe cost Honda like $2
Go to Crutchfield.com and enter your car info.
They will return with speakers in all price ranges. If you have any questions...they have a number online to talk about your choice.

Hope that helps.
the little speakers are like super tweeters. They give additional spatial clarity to the sound. If you're happy with how they sound, fine. But I would have left them in. Just .my 2c.
