hello all,
I have a 2013 Honda Fit Base with the 5sp Auto
the gear selector shows D (ues all 5 gears) then D3, 2, 1

is there a way to lock out 5th gear? (Downshift to 4th, not 3rd)?
I'd love to add a button to my shifter to lock out OD (5th) for some of the hills on my commute (instead of letting it pull me down 4-5mph, then downshifting to 4th, then to 3rd, before accelerating back to my cruise speed)

 

If you had a sport you could easily just downshift with the paddles. But since you have the base model you're stuck. Just swapping over the relevant components would be thousands of dollars worth of parts and labor. The transmission computer on the sport prioritizes getting in as high of a gear as possible as soon as possible. That's why the base auto gets the best mileage.

 

"IF" I had a Manual transmission, I could just downshift.
but neither are an option

I'm looking for a real answer
