Connecting Android phone to AUX
Connecting Android phone to AUX
I ve been a happy campers with CDs for many years, but now it just don t make it anymore. I wanted to use the AUX 3.5 mm plug but it only accepts like old Ipod and Ipod 2nd edition. Is there any way to make it work with my Android phone... I am in Canada so no USB plug anywhere. Thanks
Any wired solution? I see the radio recognizes old Ipod. Could some Ipod emulator or something like it work? I never get good sound quality with Bluetooth and would prefer something with a wire, if it's possible...
you can get a usb plug that plugs into your phone
Amazon.com: MORELECS Aux to USB C, USB C to 3.5mm Audio Aux Jack Cable 3.3 ft, Type C to Aux Headphone Male Cord Car Aux Cable Compatible with iPhone 15/15Plus/Pro/Pro Max, Galaxy S23 Ultra iPad Pro Air Pixel 7 : Electronics

In my manual it says the radio only recognizes Ipod, Ipod 2 and a couple of others. I thought Android was not recognized before 2015. Is your radio the original one?
I might give it a try, since it's not expensive, but still curious. :/
The AUX 3.5 mm plug will only play what is output from the device it is connected to. There is no phone integration or anything. So you could plug anything from an old MP3 player, a phone, an old portable CD player or even an old cassette walkman.
If you want phone integration, you'll have to replace the head unit of the Fit with an aftermarket that has phone integration. Shouldn't be that expensive (~200-250$ with a dashkit and plugs so you don't have to cut/solder wires in the dash. Look at crutchfield, they supply instructions to do the work if you buy from them.

I don't need integration. Would be happy to simply press the play button once on my phone and it would play in the car... That's what is not working unfortunately!

Maybe what you are talking about (the AUX letting play any device with music output) is only since 2015? It doesn't work in my 2011...
The owner manual states that when you connect something to the AUX 3.5mm jack, the radio should automatically switch to the AUX mode and play what is input...
Are your volume on the phone high enough? Could you try to play music with another device? If it works with something else, the problem is your phone, not the car radio.

In the manual on the radio it says "All models except Canadian DX, DX-A", etc. My model is a canadian one, so maybe that's why it doesn't work?

I don't find anything about the car radio switching to AUX whatever the input. It states, page 191 :
When a compatible audio unit is connected to the jack, press the CD/ AUX (On vehicles with navigation system) or AUX (On vehicles without navigation system) button to select it
The audio system reads and plays sound files to be playable on the iPod. The system cannot operate an iPod as a mass storage device. The system will only play songs stored on the iPod with iTunes.
What year is your Fit and do you have the navigation panel model or not?
It doesn't work for me it seems, unless I have an old Ipod, which I don't...
just gonna echo what the rest have said. USB-C to 3.5mm female adapter. then 3.5 to 3.5 male male to plug into your stereo. Hit the aux button, and press play on your spotify, pandora, youtube, whatever. 2012 base USDM, but it really REALLY shouldnt matter. that set-up works if your or any stereo has an aux jack.
If your phone still has a headphone jack, hook it up with just the aux cable and try turning volume up to max on your phone (with the music playing), then the stereo, to desired volume. If that dont work, run the adapter and try that way.
If you need a pic, I'll try n remember to get one for yuh 😋 today is effin crazy.

Thanks for the help!
Mine's a 2012. No worries though, this isnt a software matter. Android or apple, new or old, it doesnt use any of that to play the music. consider this the same as plugging in headphones. The headphones don't need to be "compatible" beyond being wired. You dont need bluetooth, or anything at all. The only way this method could fail is user error or broken devices/broken wiring, and I mean completely broken. Its perfectly fine that you phone shows the music as playing through headphones. You likely just needed to turn the volume up 😛

Sound quality is not as good as on a CD, but maybe it is because it is a cheap wire?
Anyway it works, wow, 13 years after buying that car I get to use the AUX at last...
Thanks again! I can't believe I wasn't able to use that thing before.
If the sound quality good for you?
Woo!!! Glad to hear it!
Was the trick volume or the adapter?
As for sound quality, how bad is it? It may be a matter of the music you're playing. The stereo should sound just as good as with CDs I'd think, since the speaker function remains the same. It's a question of the quality of music being played -- like if you're using youtube and the recording is low quality.. You'll just need to find higher quality stuff! Pandora, spotify, etc. should have good quality sound files. Remastered stuff if it's older, which you could look for on youtube too.
Besides that, if music is crackly/static-y, you may need to examine your aux cord. On some, the fittings are adjustable (can be tightened/loosened). If you're confident your cord is in good shape/plugged all the way in and nothing feels loose, and it's just that the music sounds dull, flat, so on, then it's the audio file.
Now if you consider yourself an audiophile and you're troubled by lack of clarity specific to lows, mids, or highs, bass, etc. then you may have to look into upgrading your stereo/speakers. I don't know anything about that stuff.

Yeah, bass, highs and lows are a bit mixed up. I guess the problem is on the phone; there must be some software to correct that, but anyway, at least I can listen to some music and that's fine with me.
Thanks again!
Right on! I'm glad you got it figured. My old samsung galaxy s5 had a volume override thing going on for headphones. Thing still works 😂
But now I use a google pixel 8. Before that, a pixel 3, and for both of them things are as loud as I can tolerate at 20. 22 if I'm deaf that day. Most of my listening is 12-15. SO your issue may well have to do with your phone's output.
Well, I wish you the best of luck! Take care
