Angry Programming a new key... I guess you have to use a lock$mith??

I ordered a new key. Looks just like the old one. Went to YouTo0b and found some Honda videos. I did the (4) position II, hit the lock, then off four times cycle. So the locks programmed and work but the car starts for like 1 second and then stalls with the flashing green light blinking.

I can't figure out how to get the ECU to program the key. The key vendor says it may need programmed with a programmer, but they don't show any solutions. The key is an AutoKey Max key.

Any ideas or what brand of key can an owner program in his own garage?

You can find more info on this subject by doing a search on this forum and/ or by looking at the bottom of this page under "related threads". Quoting an answer from below, "That only programs the lock/unlock/panic buttons to your car. You will still need to get the immobilizer chip programmed at the dealer." (**or by a locksmith.)

I always do that first, but didn't find any usable info. Thanks for the last bit of your info, I'll have to find someone local who can handle it.

Yeah, unfortunately the immobilizer chip needs to be programmed too. I see that there are different tools online you can buy and try it yourself. The other options are to go to the dealership or a locksmith.
