Is any lowering possible with 205/50R16 on a 2009 Sport and +42 offset?
Is any lowering possible with 205/50R16 on a 2009 Sport and +42 offset?
I recently got 16x7 Enkei J10 4x100 4x4.5 42. wheels and Nitto 205/50R16 for my 2009 fit, a car that i am very fond of (lot of memories), though my wife is the primary driver of that car now. I am wondering is there any room to lower that car if I got TEIN Street Advance Z Coilovers. I dont have any good reason for doing it besides having a slight urge to try it. Right now it has stock suspension.
I tried searching through forum. Did not quite get the exact answer. Gemini says it should be ok to go down an inch or so. But I am not sure? I dont want it rub especially with her driving it as a regular use car. Dealt with rubbing, body mount chop on my 4R. Don't want to get into with this car. If there is already a thread on it, kindly just point me to it.
Many thanks in advance

Hey there!
Recently picked up Buddyclub P1s in 4x100 16x7 +45 with Indy500's mounted (205/50/r16 sq setup). I was wondering the same question as you since I already have swift springs installed on my car. I'll be test fitting this evening and will update you shortly if I rub or have any issues

was the rubbing due to the offset?
It was rubbing on the fender, so yes.
i would however note that the car never once rubbed on different 195/50/16 tires (General GMax AS05), only on wider, 200 tw extreme summer tires.
also important to note that my wheels are also 4mm more aggressive.

Hey there! Finally got around to test fitting the wheels and tires mentioned before, and they are perfect! Flush, no rubbing at full load and full lock. I would upload a photo but It won't load into here. If you'd like to see an actual visual let me know and we can figure something out lol

Interesting, I am running 205/50R16 Kumho tires on 16x7 et45 wheels and with very mild lowering from RSR Down springs they rubbed like crazy even though they seemed like they fit ok static in my driveway. I wound up rolling my fenders and now no issues but the down springs were too low for me and rode like garbage so I went to coilovers.

Update: images of the car on buddyclubs
Swift Springs
16x7 +45 sq
205/50/r16
sits flush with the fender.
no rubbing under full load and lock, about a fingers gap between the tire and fender.
let me know if you have anymore questions

Wow. nice. love the white on white. Do you know how much lowered is your car now? What coilover/shocks you are using along with those Swift springs?
Gemini tells me these springs lower GE08 by 1.2 inch i think. Not sure if that is right.
Many thanks for sharing

rear drops 1inch and the front 1.2 inches. However it does vary and these numbers are just a general idea. I’m on stock shocks
cool. is this what you have
https://silvers-na.com/products/swif...CKIFz-6_w0xygQ
may be be cheaper option for me than full on coil over. lol
How is the ride quality on streets compared to full stock?
Also I am assuming you did all the work yourself?
thanks!

There is a whole huge thread on swift springs for the GE8:
https://www.fitfreak.net/forums/2nd-...gs-thread.html
I would also ask you not to use Gemini or other AI for something so easily searchable. It is so highly consumptive for absolutely zero benefit.
